Letting agency "inspections"

Our letting agency sent somebody out to inspect our flat. They claim they sent us written notice a week ago and that it must have gotten lost or delayed in the postal strike. Our lease requires that they give us 2 days' written notice before an inspection. I'm not keen on them poking about our flat when we're not there or when they think we're not there. (Keirstan was in, but the woman knocked and then let herself in before Keirstan went to the door.) I asked them not to do it again without giving us notice and they just said "oh, we look after so many flats that we can't possibly do anything about it". I've never had to deal with a letting agency before. Does anybody know if there's anything we can legally do about it? Other than become homeowners?
