Almost missed this one. Animal rights campaigner banned from UK under new terror laws. Now, I don't have much sympathy for the guy and his beliefs, but it seems to me just plain bloody stupid to ban him from the UK under these laws. Maybe in the short term it will stop a few people hearing what he says and going out and doing something terrible. But in the long run it just builds him and his ideas up to be something they're not. It says, this man is so dangerous to us that we dare not let you hear him, and these ideas are so toxic that the only way to counter them is to silence them.
I strongly doubt the wisdom of this approach, and I very much disapprove of getting in the legislation to do it on the back of the London bombings.
